Geoffroy Cruysmans
Geoffroy Cruysmans was called to the Bar in 1992, and from the outset devoted himself to insurance law, civil liability and damages, mainly alongside policyholders and victims. He also taught those matters for years at the Bar's Professional Training Center and he was awarded the title of specialist in 2007. Since September 2019, he has also been Director of the Insurance Department of the French- and German-speaking Bar Association (AVOCATS.BE) and Chairman of the French-speaking Joint Commission of Lawyers and Legal Protection Insurers.
Highly involved in the life of the Bar of Brussels, Geoffroy was Commissioner of the Young Bar Association (1994-1996), Speaker of the Solemn Session of the Bar (2001-2002), Column leader (2002-2007) and then member of the Bar Council (2011-2014), where he successively held the positions of President of the Legal Aid Office, Deputy Secretary and then Secretary of the Bar Council.
Geoffroy is the Chief of Staff of the President of the Bar since September 2020 and deals with numerous issues relating to the ethics and discipline of the members of the Bar, of which he is an informed connoisseur. He teaches those matters at the Bar’s Professional Education Center, is the author of numerous publications on the subject and is regularly invited to speak on related issues.
